For our holiday last year we decided to go to the land of pasties and visit Cornwall! We totally fell in love with the place, which was helped by the great weather we had, and got some great photos. Since then though I haven’t done anything with the pictures and whilst sorting through my files I came across them again. I decided that while it’s a bit after the fact I’d do a little blog post featuring some of my favourite pictures.
My name is Kat and I have a cookbook addiction. Now that I’ve got that bit out of the way I can continue with my latest cookbook loves. When I see a new cookbook out I can’t help but pick it up, flick through the pages, get mesmerised by the possibilities and buy it.
As I’ve previously mentioned I’m trying to eat healthier as well as upping my fitness routine. The problem with this is that I love food and cooking so trying to eat healthy is always tricky when I want to experiment and eat all the food! The key to keeping my health on track I’ve found is to still love food and the cooking process but just trying to experiment with ways of cooking food so dinners are healthier.
My favourite style of dress to wear in the summer is a loose fit, elasticated waist dress. I have a couple in my wardrobe that I wear regularly but decided I would try to make my own version having the flexibility of fabric choices.
It has a simple shape so was fairly easy to trace for a first time self-draft, the pieces were; bodice front, bodice back, skirt front, skirt back and front and back neck facing.
This recipe is one I’ve adapted slightly from Deliciously Ella which is a great healthy inspiration recipe book for me. Whilst I’m not going to adopt every healthy food change Ella goes through, it’s great to pick up on a few ideas and adapt slightly to what suits you.
Simple pasta dishes are great, you can have them with a big salad, make extras for lunches and they work really well as part of a BBQ.
I’ve avoided buying pasta sauces in jars for years but pesto is one I always seem to end up buying ready made. I’ve made classic pesto before but wanted to try something a bit different this time. Keeping a jar of roasted red pepper is really handy, you can use them in stews, salads and this pesto recipe. This will make enough for about 2-3 people having the pasta as a main.
